We at Flower Social embrace the opportunity to use floral design to play, inspire and bring people together. With that in mind we have created a series of workshops and floral parties that will delight and engage students of almost any age. Founders Susan and Masha first bonded over their obsessions with the latest tulip varieties and rose trends. The idea for Flower Social was born out of their desire to inspire that same kind of excitement for flowers and creative experiments that first brought them together and which has kept them busy with shared projects for more than a decade.
Susan has been working in the floral industry for most of her adult life, developing several successful businesses. Apart from Flower Social, Susan owns the beloved Upper West Side shop Posies. Susan, her husband and two boys live in Chelsea.
Masha was born in the USSR, raised in the Bronx and educated on three continents in three languages. She fell head over heels for flowers when she first worked at Susan’s shop out of high school. Masha has an affinity for color composition and a passion for daffodils.

Tom Sakas took control of his family’s century-old floral business in 1985. Enthralled by the many textures and hues of flowers and plants, he began experimenting with design as a child. After pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, he was drawn back to his family business. Tom’s method of design stems from decades of serving customers; every creative decision aims to be a stunning interpretation of the ideas and purpose of his clients. His talent for technical planning and bold risk-taking distinguishes his event designs and has grown the business. Today, the Gramercy Park Flower Shop is a full-service floral and plant design company with locations in the Gramercy Park area, Chelsea Market and Dumbo, Brooklyn. H. Hartley du Pont
Hartley du Pont grew up on her family horse farm in New Jersey. From her earliest memories, she was inspired by her grandmother Grace Hartley Mead, who would rise before dawn to pick flowers from her extensive gardens. Du Pont, who is President Emeritus of the School of the Arts Alumni Association of Columbia University finds, flowers to be the most fragrant and colorful artistry. She earned her B.A. degree at Bard College, and her M.F.A. degree from Columbia specializing in printmaking, but for as long as she can remember she was picking flowers, wild and domestic, from her parents woods and fields, and decorating the tables. Du Pont has exhibited in many shows, including Barney's New York Red Window Exhibit, and has had a solo show at the National Academy of Design of her prints and pastels.
Additionally, she trained as a costume designer in New York City, and designed costumes for Off Broadway productions, as well as assisting designers on many shows. She often displays a love of the dramatic in her flair for color and size.
A professional journalist and designer, du Pont has been a sports columnist for the New York Daily News, and a reporter for the Associated Press. She has been a feature writer for many national and international publications, including Elle, Self, and Harper's Bazaar magazines. Du Pont has been the designer of the Winter Ball for the Museum of the City of New York, including all floral arrangements for 13 consecutive years, and has designed for this event every year since its inception 15 years ago. Many of her designs have been photographed for magazines and newspapers, and she serves as Vice Chair of Events and Programs for Columbia's Alumni Association, is a member of the Senate Committee on Honors and Prizes, as well as Chairman of the SolarOne Event in New
York. She is currently working on a book of table top settings and flowers called "Lifestyle by du Pont."

Corrente Schankler is a native of Far Hills, New Jersey. After graduating from Brown, Corrente began a short-lived career in advertising. Born in Colombia, Richard Mishaan began his career by appreciating in the offices of Philip Johnson after receiving a B.A. from New York University and attending Columbia University School of Architecture. In the ensuing years, he opened a successful design firm, completing assignments for private individuals and corporations including collaborations with Sony Corporation, the Trump Organization, The St. Regis Hotel Chain and several private clients. Sebastian Li
Sebastian Li was born and raised in Sea Cliff, New York. He studied art and photography in Boston before settling in New York and launching his business. A proud descendent of a bohemian family, Sebastian channels the creativity of artists like Hermann Dudley Murphy, a celebrated painter of the Boston School; Dudley Murphy, the pioneer director of Ballet Mécanique (1924) and the The Emperor Jones (1933); and Grace Li, whose award-winning azalea garden once flourished in Glen Cove, New York. Tantawan Bloom
Golf Srithamrong of Tantawan Bloom is bringing a new cross-cultural approach to high-end floral design. He is best known for his modern creations which fuse the best of Thai, European and American styles. Golf’s formal training started at the American School of Floral and Plant Design in 2003 and later at Parson’s School of Design. He was spotted by Nancy Kitchen of The Flowerloft, who invited him to work with her on events for Ted Turner at Madison Square Garden. After attending a meeting of AIFD in New York, he was offered a scholarship to study at James Moretz’s American Floral Art School in Chicago, and graduated there in September of 2004. In spring 2005 he accepted a position to manage a new flower shop about to open at Fire Island Pines. Bamboo served a sophisticated and knowledgeable clientele and Golf’s creative approach to floral designwas an instant success. He was invited to return to run the business again in 2006.
At Tantawan Bloom Golf has further developed the style he introduced at Bamboo, taking his formal training and adding unique design elements that come from his Thai upbringing. His work has been featured at major events locations in New York (including Cipriani 42nd Street and Wall Street, The Plaza Hotel, The Mandarin Oriental Hotel, and Capitale amongst many others), as well as Long Island’s most prominent events location, Oheka Castle in Hungtington.

Tom Farrington Designs
Tom Farrington has over 40 years of experience in floral and garden design. He began his career working for J. Barry Ferguson, where for seven years he worked hands-on installing and designing gardens, and staging events and party decor. Prior to starting his business, he worked with such event designers as L’Olivier, Preston Bailey, Glorimundi, and Tansey Design.
In 2000, Tom established his business, Tom Farrington Designs, in southern Connecticut, designing both gardens and events in the tri-state area. Besides party work, he maintains weekly private and corporate accounts and continues to maintain and develop his landscaping commissions.
His use of color and texture and his close attention to details, creates a big impact and an artful ambiance both in the garden and at the table. His intent and finalized product is truly artistic.
