GreenBranches
Through our
GreenBranches program, our designers and GreenTeam interns install Learning Gardens in the unused open areas around New York City branch libraries.
We use these gardens to provide educational programming, including our
Read & Seed summer literacy program and year-round Family Garden Workshops and Community Workshops for all ages. So far, we’ve installed 19
GreenBranches gardens, most of them in our City’s most under-served communities.
To ensure the continued maintenance of the
GreenBranches gardens, we collaborate with local community organizations to develop long-term relationships with the residents of the surrounding neighborhood.
In 2005, The Art Commission of New York City selected GreenBranches as the recipient of the Art Commission Special Recognition Award for Excellence in Design.
