The Official First Day Cover featuring Liberty Hyde Bailey produced in 1958 to honor Gardening and Horticulture
Liberty Hyde Bailey was a botanist, horticulturist and prolific writer.
The Library holds many of Bailey’s books as well as periodicals for which he wrote. The January 1903 issue of American Gardening, for example, contains an article replete with illustrations on Bailey’s visit to the upstate home of John Burroughs, the famous naturalist.
