Liberty Hyde Bailey was a botanist, horticulturist and prolific writer.

The Library holds many of Bailey’s books as well as periodicals for which he wrote. The January 1903 issue of American Gardening, for example, contains an article replete with illustrations on Bailey’s visit to the upstate home of John Burroughs, the famous naturalist.

The library features the best of the literature of this important period in American Horticulture. Some early highlights include:
